March 16, 2020: Update #1
To ensure the health of our community during the current COVID-19 global pandemic, SIRCH Community Services is temporarily suspending a number of its programs and services:
- Cook It Up Tuesdays at Molly’s Bistro Bakery will be suspended until further notice. There will be no lunch offered on Tuesday, March 17, Tuesday, March 24 or Tuesday, March 31.
- Community Kitchen will be suspended until further notice. We are working with the Haliburton, Kawartha, Pine Ridge District Health Unit to determine how we can operate the Community Kitchen in a way that will support local food banks and agencies, while ensuring the safety of volunteers.
- CAPC/CPNP groups will be suspended until further notice. SIRCH will be providing supports for participants in other ways during this difficult time.
“The board and staff of SIRCH take the health and safety of the public, program participants and volunteers, very seriously,” said Gena Robertson, SIRCH’s Executive Director. “Our goal is to minimize risk. This temporary suspension of programs follows practices by other service providers and non-profits in our community, province, and throughout the country. SIRCH will explore alternate approaches to delivering these programs should this period of social distancing become extended.”
Community members, program participants, or volunteers experiencing food insecurity or other issues are encouraged to contact SIRCH by phoning 705-457-1742 or emailing email@example.com. Our staff will work to help address your needs.
During this period of social distancing, please consider supporting vulnerable individuals and families by making a donation to SIRCH. Your donations help SIRCH provide initiatives like Community Kitchen which provides food to those in need. Visit www.sirch.on.ca/donate to contribute.
At this time, the Thrift Warehouses in Haliburton and Bancroft will remain open Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Guests are asked to self-screen whether they should be shopping. Staff will implement a robust sanitation protocols of public spaces.
