They’ve got their work cut out for them.
Trent University students in Mark Skinner’s health geography class came to Haliburton Oct. 17 to learn about the poverty in the county. Four local anti-poverty workers met them and discussed the challenges in the Highlands – from no public transportation to seasonal low-income jobs to lack of inexpensive healthful food.
The students are to bring back examples of how food insecurity problems are being addressed in other parts of the world.
