Bereavement Support

Journey Through Grief

In the words of Helen Keller, “We the bereaved are not alone. We belong to the largest company in the world — the company of those who have known suffering.”

Twice a year SIRCH offers Levels 1 & 2 of Grief Recovery: The Journey Towards New Wholeness and Health. People who have lost a friend, spouse, child, parent or sibling gain support from others and move through the journey together. Based on a curriculum developed by Lyle Horn, MDiv, the goal of the program is to help people who are grieving process some of the difficult emotions they are encountering and help to discover new ways to move forward in their lives. Grief Recovery Group, Level 3, provides a monthly drop in for people who have participated in Levels 1 & 2.

All group facilitators for the Grief Recovery Groups have been trained by Lyle Horn, MDiv, who developed his program over a 20 year period at Hospice Peterborough.

Educational Events

Journey Through Grief informational one hour sessions are offered to groups in the community on request. Sessions provide information on the grieving process as well as opportunities to discuss and explore our own feelings around grief.
